Plus sized woman sometimes have a tendency to select dresses that a baggy or with voluminous material in order to try to hide their bodies, however, those type of dresses often make them look heavier. Instead, if you are plus sized, choose a dress with an empire waist or an A-line: both will help to conceal your hips and waist and lengthen the body.
The A-line dress also works well for women with a pear shaped body, that is a body smaller on top than it is at the bottom. This is probably the most common body type for women. The A-line help the bust to stand out to help disguise the fuller hips and thighs and a more fitted top will work well too.
Empire waist dresses work well for smaller women as well. If you have little or no waist, it can help you define your waist and, if you select something with a straight top and spaghetti straps, it will bring the emphasis to your bust. You might want to consider a dress with a long length as well to look extra glamorous.
Simple or Sparkly

You can find wonderful party dresses that are made well with little embellishment that you will look stunning in. Just add the right shoes and jewelry and you are good to go.
However, if you want to stand out a little more, consider a dress with sequins or made from a material with a little shine to it, such as a satin or jewel tone. If you do choose one that is embellished, be careful of the jewelry you wear with it as it could clash if it is too sparkly.
Try to Avoid
For most women, a calf length dress should be passed by as it can add age to you. Dresses that stop at the calf are stopping at the thickest part of the leg, which can not only add age, but make you look bigger than you really are. You want to try to avoid dresses with net skirts as well as they can make it look like a fairy princess dress and those are better left for little girls.
